Laminate Flooring

The most common thing folks ask about laminate is what to expect on install day, and it's usually one of the quicker jobs we do. Before the crew starts, we move the big furniture (anything that takes two people) and we ask y'all to box up the small stuff so we can focus on the floor. The laminate needs a couple days to acclimate to your home first — that's not us slow-walking it, that's the material adjusting so it doesn't move on you after it's down. If you've got existing tile, in most cases we can float the new laminate right over the top after we prep the surface, which saves you the demo and the dust.

Picking between laminate and LVP is where a lot of folks get stuck. Laminate is a great value — it gives you the look of wood at a friendlier price, and it's really scratch-resistant. The catch is the core is wood-based, so it doesn't love standing water. In dry rooms — bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, dining — it's a fantastic choice. For kitchens, baths, laundry rooms, or anywhere spills are common, we'd steer you to LVP instead because it's fully waterproof. Care on laminate is easy. A dust mop, a Swiffer, or a light damp mop handles most of it. Don't soak the floor and skip the acidic cleaners, bleach, and oil soaps because that stuff can dull the finish. We use and recommend Bona, a water-based cleaner that's safe on any hard surface.
