Tile Flooring

The number one question we get on tile is what to expect during install, and it really comes down to prep. Before the tile goes down, we handle the big furniture (anything that takes two people), we prep and level the subfloor, and if there are trades involved — a plumber for a shower or a bath — we coordinate that so you're not calling five different people. If we're working around existing floors, we protect them with ram board so all that traffic doesn't beat up what you already have. It costs us a little extra on the back end, but it protects your investment.

Picking between porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone trips up a lot of folks. Porcelain is the workhorse — dense, water-resistant, great for wet areas and high traffic. Ceramic is easier on the budget and perfect for walls or lower-traffic spots. Natural stone gives you a look nothing else can match, but it needs sealing and a little more care. Grout is a decision too — pick one that ties in with the tile if you want the pattern to disappear, or contrast if you want the layout to pop. And get a pre-sealed grout so you're not maintaining it every year. Come by the showroom and we'll pull samples so you can see it all side by side.

Care on tile is about as easy as it gets. Sweep or vacuum regular so grit doesn't grind into the grout, and damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner — we like Bona for hard surfaces. Skip the harsh acidic stuff, because that wears on the grout over time. If you keep up with it, quality tile will outlast just about anything else in your house.
